Transportation Driver

Our refugees need your wheels!  Most participants in our program do not have transportation that is vital for their success.  Consider becoming a Transportation Driver for our weekly classes and special events.  As a driver, you will pickup refugees and transport them to classroom or special event venues.

 

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Pick up students for classes
  • Take students home after classes
  • Coverage for special events, i.e. quarterly parties, will be requested

 

Required Skills

The following skills are preferred:

  • All drivers must have a valid Texas Driver's License and safe driving record
  • Safe and reliable transportation required
  • Car and passenger insurance (a copy of what is covered must be provided)
  • All vehicle inspections and maintenance must be up to date
  • Strong English speaking skills a must (or bilingual English/Arabic)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Personable and outgoing, service-oriented
  • Patient, flexible, and positive attitude

 

Work Hours

Volunteers are needed during the following shifts:

  1. Monday 9:30am – 1:30pm
  2. Wednesday 9:30am - 1:00pm
  3. Thursday 9:30am – 12:30pm
  4. Saturdays 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Various days and times for special events

 

Only 3 excused absences permitted per semester.

All drivers must report potential absences 24 hours in advance.

 

Dress Code

Please dress modestly.  We encourage women to wear long pants or a long skirt.  Nothing tight.  Tops should fully cover shoulders; three-quarter sleeves or longer preferred.

 

All volunteers are subject to background checks
