Citizenship Assistant

Becoming an American Citizen is very exciting for our students.  If you have interest in helping refugees achieve this monumental goal join our team as a Citizenship Assistant.  You will help with US citizenship requirement education, conversation practice, and aid the application process.  

Duties 

Duties include but are not limited to the following: 

• Maintain a phone list of all students and check attendance for each class 
• Knowledge of US citizenship requirements 
• Ability to assist in acquiring required information 
• Assisting in completing application on line. 
• Ability to provide conversational English practice 
• Ability to prepare student for citizenship interview 

Required Skills 

The following skills are preferred: 

• Heartfelt desire to help Arabic speakers 
• Strong English speaking skills a must (or bilingual Arabic and English speakers) 
• Strong customer service skills 
• Personable and outgoing, service-oriented 
• Patient, flexible, and positive attitude 
• Professional, dependable and punctual

Work Hours

Volunteers are needed during the following shifts:

• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:30am - 12:00pm

Only 3 excused absences permitted per semester

Dress Code

Please dress modestly.  We encourage women to wear long pants or a long skirt.  Nothing tight.  Tops should fully cover shoulders; three-quarter sleeves or longer preferred.
