Engage in the lives of refugees by caring for their children! As a Childcare Assistant, you will provide care for young children during classes or special events.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervises, assists, and actively engages children during play and learning activities
- Administers snacks and water (per parent's permission)
- Supervises children during bathroom breaks
- Supervises children's safety needs
- Provides attention to other needs of children as situations arise
- Monitors and manages children's behavior in ways appropriate for a childcare assistant
- Informs office and/or parents when illness or disciplinary needs arise
Required Skills
The following skills are preferred:
- Strong English speaking skills a must (or bilingual Arabic/English)
- Childcare experience a plus
- Able to lift and carry children if the need arises
- Strong customer service skills, a personable and outgoing, service-oriented
- Patient, flexible, and positive attitude
- Professional, dependable and punctual
Work Hours
Volunteers are needed during the following shifts:
- Monday & Wednesday 10:00am -2:00pm
- Monday & Thursday 10:00am - 1:00pm
- Saturday 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Special Events Hours may vary
Only 3 excused absences permitted per semester. Please do not attend if you are sick.
Dress Code
Please dress modestly. We encourage women to wear long pants or a long skirt. Nothing tight. Tops should fully cover shoulders; three-quarter sleeves or longer preferred.
